Meet our Patron

Dr Angel Adams set up HELPP!! three years ago and has been a great source of help and advice ever since.  She has personally helped and supported every member of the management committee.

Dr Angel Adams is a Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychologist, specialising in psychodiagnostic assessment and the treatment of children with complex psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders.  She has been trained both in the UK and in America where her training was in diagnostic assessments and treatment of families, adults and children.  She is Chartered and a Practitioner Full member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and has 27 years of experience in total.  Her qualifications include a BA (Hons), an MA in Clinical Psychology, and a PhD in Clinical Psychology. She has written a psychosocial training manual for professionals working with children and adolescents who have Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).  She has a small private practice in Kingston and she works for South West London and St Georges’ Trust and is a member of a multidisciplinary team at the Sutton Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team  (CAMHS).

A Clinical Psychologist has a generic training in mental health issues across the scope of problems and ages.  They are trained in a wide range of models and can draw on any while working with families and individuals. They are also trained in the formal assessment of children’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses, using a wide battery of standardized tests. This allows them to advise on diagnostic issues, appropriate school interventions, and schooling. They can therefore make clear recommendations for how to support a child educationally.
